Mothering Asheville

The NCCHW Culture of Results Initiative is currently working with Mothering Asheville to strengthen our ability to implement strategies to reduce infant mortality among Black women in Buncombe County. Currently, we are training SistasCaring4Sistas, the Black doulas, to help them evaluate their impact as they work in low income housing areas to provide care to pregnant mothers and babies.

NCCHW Selected to be Part of the 2017 National Council on Aging Network Development Learning Collaborative

April 25, 2017

The North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness at UNC Asheville (NCCHW) has been selected as one of 10 organizations nationally to participate in the year-long Network Development Learning Collaborative supported by the National Council on Aging (NCOA). Participation in the learning collaborative will support NCCHW’s efforts to serve as a center of evidence-based healthy-aging programming and form a network hub of local organizations and health care providers.

Falls Prevention Grant

August, 2017

The North Carolina Center for Health & Wellness (NCCHW) at UNC Asheville received a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to expand access to and utilization of evidence-based falls prevention programs across 18 counties in Western North Carolina.
